Was contacted by Annelize Graham owner of La Tranquil Guesthouse mid-December to do an oil painting of Zebras for her guest house. She requested this painting of which the size would be 4500mm x 1600mm on a stretched canvas unframed to be mounted to the wall of the corridor leading to the living, relaxing area and lounge of her guesthouse by the end of February 2023. She also added that she believes in less is more and requested that beauty, simplicity and not too much energy should be reflected in the composition of this painting. Realizing this to be my biggest painting ever and that it will present a lot of challenges especially with me holding a very challenging and demanding full-time job in the FMCG environment, not big enough workspace for an abnormal size canvas and will have to work outdoors, loadshedding, lots of layers of paint and many other challenges, I just could not refuse and walk away from this unique opportunity and quoted and committed to deliver before the 31st of January 2023. I utilized all of my spare time and after many hours and with very little sleep, was able to deliver on this promise. The painting was delivered to its owner on the 20th of January 2023 and was mounted to the allocated space on the wall. Many thanks to Annelize who trusted me with this project and for letting me create this unique opportunity and experience to improve and develop my skill. To my good friend Dawid van Deventer who is also an artist, for building and delivering the canvas on time and for his expert advise and mentoring during and throughout this project and for his help to transport, deliver and mount the artwork.
