Johan Coetzer’s Story and how it all started.
“I was born in Klerksdorp Northwest, South Africa in the year of 1962 with the name of Johan Coetzer. As from Early Childhood to my Early Teen Years, I had a love for Drawing and Sketching. One of my Main Subjects during my Secondary Schooling years was that of Art.
For many years I did not practice my Painting and Drawing Skills, until the year of April 2018, when my Wife tragically passed away. My first Professional Painting was a Lifesize Portrait of my Beloved Wife Jeanette.
The Painting is of my Wife on Our Wedding Day 10 March 1984. The Artwork took several months all in Tribute to the 34 years we were Married. I am an Artist with Self-Taught Experience, in my time I have completed over 80 Paintings.”
My most favourite reference to Paint is that of Nature, I love Autumn Scenes for the Rich Colours and Contrasts they provide. I do Commission Painting and love to paint Challenging Art Pieces in any Subject and Size. I work with most Art Mediums.
My most favourite Art Mediums to work with are Soft Pastels and Oil Paint. In my years I have had the pleasure of learning from Fellow Professional Artists such as Bob Mckenzie, Chris Ried, Mariette Marais, Johan Kruger and Dawid van Deventer.
Although my work is in Very Realistic, Im Primarily Drawn and find Inspiration in Impressionistic Artists for the application of their Thick Layers of Paint and the use of Colour, Contrasts and Form. My favourite Artists are the Masters Of Old, Vincent Van Gogh and Claude Monet.
